Transfer news LIVE – Man Utd snubbed as Liverpool hold £38.5m defender talks
There is now less than two weeks to go in the summer transfer market as Premier League clubs continue to scan the market for opportunities. It’s almost certain that all of the Big Six will remain active in the final stretches of the window meaning there could be plenty of twists and turns up ahead after yet another crazy summer of transfer carnage.
Manchester United are still open to the prospect of strengthening in midfield and in defence but Erik ten Hag knows further spending is likely to be dependent on sales.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also refused to rule out further additions on Friday after completing the signing of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart.
Then there’s Chelsea, who are quickly approaching the £1billion mark when it comes to spending under Todd Boehly and there could be further recruits before September 1.
Spurs still have work to do in the market after losing Harry Kane and Manchester City still want two new attackers particularly after Kevin De Bruyne.
Arsenal could continue to strengthen if they sense an opportunity to be had after four summer signings for Mikel Arteta while Newcastle consider their business done once Lewis Hall arrives from Chelsea.
Express Sport keeps you up to date with all the latest developments from the transfer market on Saturday, August 19.

Lloris rejects Lazio
Hugo Lloris has rejected a move to Lazio according to Sky Italia.
Lloris had been in talks over a two-year contract with the Serie A outfit but he has since had a change of heart.
It’s thought he was notified that he would not be guaranteed a starting berth in Rome.
The World Cup winner held talks with Maurizio Sarri before the U-turn.
Liverpool £38.5m defender talks
Ecuadorian outlet Teradeportes are claiming that Liverpool are exploring a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.
The centre-back has previously attracted interest from Tottenham and is available for around £38.5m.
RB Leipzig and West Ham are also said to be interested in the 21-year-old.
Leverkusen are under no pressure to sell, however after receiving a big-money fee from Aston Villa for Moussa Diaby.
Liverpool are believed to be looking for a left-sided defender despite their desire to strengthen at the base of midfield.
Man Utd snubbed by Pavard
Benjamin Pavard is now set to stay at Bayern Munich despite interest from Manchester United and Inter Milan.
Pavard was an unused substitute last night for Bayern in their 4-0 opening-day win at Werder Bremen after being subject of an offer from Inter.
But Sky Germany now say he will remain in Munich despite transfer interest.
Initially, Pavard had been keen on a move to United but hopes of a deal were diminished after Harry Maguire subbed the chance to join West Ham.
There was still a chance United could return later in the window once they had offloaded some players but it seems Pavard is not prepared to wait around and will instead stay at Bayern.
Chelsea plot Arsenal swoop
Sky Sports claim Chelsea have held initial talks over a move for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun.
Balogun has been the subject of one rejected bid from Monaco recently and the Ligue 1 club could yet try again.
The USMNT forward can leave Arsenal on a permanent deal this summer but Arsenal value him at £50m.
Fulham have also been credited with an interest this week after Inter Milan took a back seat in the race for his signature.
