Transfer news LIVE – Man Utd see Hojlund swap deal rejected as Arsenal eye Kudus

It’s proving to be yet another busy week in the summer transfer market as a host of Premier League clubs seek to finalise new arrivals ahead of the 2023/24 season. Most sides have now travelled overseas as their pre-season plans continue to take shape but club directors remain hot in pursuit of new arrivals and there is still plenty of work to be done before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Manchester United are expected to finalise the signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan in the next 48 hours while they’re also upping the efforts to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Arsenal new boys Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz are all in full training alongside their team-mates in Washington D.C but Edu could yet pull off further acquisitions for Mikel Arteta as the Gunners go in search of their first Premier League title since 2004.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear he needs more signings at Chelsea if they are to complete this season following a mass summer clear-out that has raised £230m.

The Argentine is fearful he is light on the ground in terms of quality and numbers after Wesley Fofana ruptured his ACL.

Tottenham are also far from done in the market despite a busy start to the window with Ange Postecoglou still targeting two more defenders and possibly other further recruits.

Express Sport has you covered with all the latest from the transfer market including gossip, speculation, done deals and more on Wednesday, July 19.

Arsenal consider £40m Kudus swoop

The Mail are reporting that Arsenal are weighing up a £40m swoop for Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghana international would bolster Arteta’s goal threat in the final third and at 22, there is optimism that Kudus has the tools to become a world-class forward.

Arsenal need to raise cash first though and the sale of Folarin Balogun could shape their prospects of pursuing the move.

Last season’s Premier League runners up have already splashed well over £200m and have already engaged in business with Ajax this summer following the recent signing Jurrien Timber.

Man Utd swap deal advances rejected for Hojlund

Manchester United tried to propose up to three players in a swap deal package for Rasmus Hojlund but Atalanta wanted straight cash.

It’s understood a loan move to Italy for Mason Greenwood was discussed while Fred and Donny van de Beek were offered on permanent transfers.

However, Atalanta did not flinch as they’re holding out for a fee close to £60m.

Hojlund has already agreed personal terms ahead of a move to Old Trafford and there is confidence a deal can be struck in the coming weeks.

Tottenham and West Ham want Gallagher

Conor Gallagher could leave Chelsea this summer with Tottenham and West Ham both chasing his signature.

The midfielder has travelled to North Carolina with the Blues for their pre-season tour but he is still thought to be considering his future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea would command a big fee for the England international as talks also continue with Brighton for Moises Caicedo.

Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund had also looked at Gallagher earlier in the window and Pochettino is thought to be open to working with him.
