- Arsenal have taken a two point lead over Manchester City in a tense title race
- The Gunners beat Aston Villa while City could only draw with Nottingham Forest
- Premier League legend Yaya Toure admitted he could not call the title race
Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has admitted he cannot call the Premier League title race after a potentially crucial weekend for both Arsenal and Manchester City.
After losing 3-1 to City in the week, Mkiel Arteta’s side came from behind twice against Aston Villa to win 4-2 after two goals in injury time, including a bizarre strike from Jorginho that was deflected down off the crossbar and bounced into the goal off Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez.
The Gunners’ weekend got even better when Manchester City could only draw 1-1 with Nottingham Forest, putting Arsenal two points clear with a game in hand.
Toure felt there would be more slip-ups for both sides as the pressure mounts towards the end of the season.
In quotes carried by the Manchester Evening News, the former City midfielder said: ‘The pressure is going to go both ways. You can see the results where Man City lost a point and Arsenal get three points in a tough game where they have twice been on the back foot.’

Arsenal will now have a chance to go five points clear when they face Leicester on Saturday
The 39-year-old knows the run-in of a title race well after winning three Premier Leagues with Manchester City.
He also has a link to the other side in the this year’s race after his brother Kolo made over 300 appearances for the Gunners and played a key part in their last title during the famous ‘invincibles’ campaign in 2003-4.
‘At this moment Arsenal are doing fantastically well,’ the former midfielder continued.
‘The fans will be enjoying it. I don’t know who will win it. I hope Man City will make it but let’s see as they are both in fantastic form in the running at the moment.’
Toure was speaking at an event in London where he was awarded the 2023 Football Writers’ Association Tribtue award.
Manchester City will briefly leave the title race behind this week as they face RB Leipizg in the Champions League on Wednesday.
It will be a key game in their season as Pep Guardiola looks to progress towards a first Champions League title in his time at City.
Arsenal will next be in action against Leicester next Saturday, who lost 3-0 to Manchester United on Sunday.
