Tottenham chief Daniel Levy will have a huge decision to make soon regarding the next head coach of Spurs, after agreeing to part ways with Antonio Conte. The Italian is reportedly set to leave the club this week once a compensation package has been agreed upon and Ryan Mason is in the frame to take over on an interim basis. However, there are nine names mentioned with the possibility of taking over on a permanent basis either now or at the end of the season and Express Sport has analysed which of them would be the best choice.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is on the shortlist ahead of what would be an emotional return to the club, as he is currently out of work following his dismissal by Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. Fellow unemployed bosses Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique have also been mentioned alongside Pochettino, after their exits from Chelsea and Spain respectively.

While the report also named current Premier League head coaches Roberto De Zerbi, Marco Silva, Steve Cooper and Thomas Frank alongside Oliver Glasner of Eintracht Frankfurt and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglu.

While Pochettino could bring a feel-good factor back to Spurs, having been the most successful head coach in their recent history, there was a reason why he was previously sacked by Levy any potential issues may remain over the Argentine. Levy may not want to admit an error in sacking the 51-year-old previously, but he has shown he can build the team up and may help convince Harry Kane to stay in north London too.

Tuchel and Enrique are the two other big names mentioned with the job and have polarising styles of play. Whether supporters would be enamoured with the German and another pragmatic three-at-the-back head coach immediately following Conte is questionable, though Enrique prefers a tiki-taka way of playing he does not have any Premier League experience.

Glasner and Postecoglu also don’t have any history in the league, but they have impressed at Frankfurt and Celtic. Both have been tipped for a job in England in recent months but have yet to make the jump, though Spurs will be wary that they may need some experience at a team lower in the division before proving that they are ready for the job.

De Zerbi, Silva, Cooper and Frank are all currently employed in the league at different ends of the table. Silva has surprised many with Fulham having been promoted last season and spending the majority of the current campaign in the top half, though Spurs will not have been encouraged by his recent behaviour against Manchester United.

Despite Cooper’s ability to keep Nottingham Forest currently out of the relegation zone, he may need more time before he can be considered for the top jobs. While Frank and Brentford have consistently been a thorn in the side of those pushing for European places, there will be concerns over whether his style of play can translate to a team such as Spurs.

However, De Zerbi has Brighton playing the kind of football that any team would dream of and if the Seagulls win their games in hand then they would leapfrog Spurs in the table. The Italian has shown that his positive style of play can work in the Premier League and would excite fans alongside getting results, putting him at the top of the list for consideration if Spurs can prize him away from Brighton.
