Nice are reportedly keen on signing Bryan Gil on loan for the rest of the season, handing the young Spaniard a chance to step away from a difficult start to life at Tottenham in exchange for regular playing time. The nimble attacker arrived in north London last summer from Sevilla after Spurs secured a player-plus-cash deal that saw Erik Lamela head the other way to Andalusia.
Gil has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Spanish football after catching the eye on loan at Leganes and Eibar.
Tottenham technical director Fabio Paratici was therefore keen to take a punt on him, paying £21.6million as part of the transfer package.
However, Gil has failed to get going in England and has struggled to adapt from La Liga under both Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, respectively.
He has played 19 times in all competitions this season, mostly from the bench, failing to score and registering just one assist.
Nonetheless, Spurs have not given up on Gil and still believe he has the potential to become a star in attack alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
According to L’Equipe, French side Nice are prepared to hand Gil a chance to get away from his current surroundings until the end of the season.
While a permanent move is not understood to be on the agenda, this is a deal that could benefit all parties.
Conte, however, has made it clear that he does not want to weaken his squad before it gets stronger.

Tottenham are understood to be close to sealing a deal in the region of £22m for Wolves winger Adama Traore.
The Italian tactician wants to make Adama his new right wing-back as he looks to replicate the development of Victor Moses at Chelsea during the club’s title-winning campaign under Conte in 2016/17.
Should Adama arrive after Wolves’ Premier League clash with Brentford this weekend, Gil is likely to fall further down the pecking order.
Tottenham are now also out of the UEFA Conference League, meaning the majority of his football will now be played from the bench.

That’s why Nice could prove an attractive option for both the club and player – although a formal bid is yet to arrive.
Wolves boss Bruno Lage is not willing to let Adama leave without a fight, claiming he will protect the Spaniard just as Tottenham protected Harry Kane last summer amid interest from Manchester City.
“I remember how much Tottenham protected their main striker Harry Kane at the beginning of the season with the big offers – and they protected the player to stay with them,” Lage said.
“And we will protect our player because we believe a lot in Adama. That is business. It’s not my concern. But I will protect my players.
“For me, with the way they work, the value for me is very high.”
