Tottenham warned Conte is ‘frustrated’ and Levy told to ‘give him what he wants’

Antonio Conte won't stay at Tottenham without more backing, Pascal Chimbonda has warned.

The north Londoners had a relatively quiet January transfer window. Arnaut Danjuma was signed on a temporary deal from Villarreal with an option to buy in the summer.

Pedro Porro also arrived at Spurs on loan from Sporting. The versatile right-winger will complete a permanent move to the club at the end of the season. Conte, however, had publicly urged for more transfer funds to be made available.

And with the Italian chief's contract due to expire in just a few months, former defender Chimbonda thinks the club is facing a period of uncertainty.

“I don’t think Conte is very happy with the transfer window," said Chimbonda, who was speaking on behalf of 888sport. "The players he wanted are not the players he got.

"That’s why he’s frustrated. At Chelsea and Inter Milan he had big players there. Daniel Levy should have confidence in him and give him what he wants.”

Tottenham secured Champions League football last season at the expense of arch-rivals Arsenal.

And despite periods of erratic form this term, Spurs are once again looking to finish the campaign strongly and secure their place in Europe's elite competition.

“They’re back in the top four, this past week or so, and they’re more than capable of finishing there," Chimbonda added.

"But they have to count on Newcastle to dip because just one win for them and a loss for Spurs means things can change very quickly. Spurs have the quality to stay in the top four but they have to go and get it.”
