Tottenham want to sign ‘another Brennan Johnson’ in January transfer window
Tottenham want to make a signing similar to that of Brennan Johnson in January, according to reports. Ange Postecoglou will look to add further depth to his squad with a ‘smart’ signing heading into the second half of the season.
Tottenham signed Johnson from Nottingham Forest on deadline day for a fee worth £47.5million. The Wales star has only made one start for his new club to date after missing several matches with a thigh injury.
He has returned off the bench in recent victories over Fulham and Crystal Palace. Johnson has provided another option in attack for Postecoglou, as he can play across the front three.
Tottenham are enjoying their best-ever start to a Premier League season and the best to any campaign since they won the double in 1960/61. But it appears Postecoglou is not totally satisfied with what he has at his disposal.

Speaking on the Men in Blazers Podcast, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham will look to be busy in the upcoming January window. He claims the players they target will be similar to the deal for Johnson.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Spurs will look to sign in attack but instead look at up-and-coming talents rather than making big-name acquisitions. Romano says Postecoglou will look to be smart in adding to his current squad.
Tottenham are said to be happy with how things are going and don’t want to alter too much. Romano says they will only bring in a signing if they find the right player.
Johnson was the most expensive signing Postecoglou made in his first window in charge. James Maddison joined from Leicester for £40m in what many pundits have described as one of the signings of the summer.

Micky van de Ven has also settled in well following his move from Wolfsburg. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is impressing, while Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro both made their loan moves permanent.
Tottenham are one of just two teams to remain unbeaten in the Premier League. Victory over Crystal Palace last Friday means the north Londoners sit two points clear of rivals Arsenal at the top of the table.
Tottenham have also made two new appointments to their hierarchy in recent months. Scott Munn started his role as chief football officer in September, while Johan Lange has arrived from Aston Villa to become technical director.
Lange is set to play a big part in recruitment moving forward. A statement released upon his appointment said he would “have responsibility for recruitment, analytics and talent identification across our senior and academy teams.”
