Tottenham hope to improve their Premier League form by using Fabio Paratici’s contacts to seal a sensational double transfer swoop from Juventus, according to reports. Spurs’ new managing director of football Paratici previously held a similar role at the Serie A club.

The 49-year-old was appointed in the summer to oversee the club’s football operation.

Paratici and chairman Daniel Levy endured a mixed summer. A chaotic search for a new manager saw them come close, but ultimately fail, to appoint three different coaches.

Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso were all reportedly nearing on in replacing Jose Mourinho but deals for each fell through.

Spurs eventually landed former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who has had an indifferent start to his new job. £60million was spent on new arrivals.

But it does not appear that Spurs will stop their spending there. Instead, they could pursue a huge £51m raid on Paratici’s former club Juventus.

According to TeamTALK, the north Londoners are keen on signing Juve pair Weston McKennie and Dejan Kulusevski.

McKennie, who is reportedly also wanted by West Ham, signed for the Italian giants on loan from Schalke in August 2020. The deal was made permanent in March.

The USA international has made 53 appearances for the club but Juve appear to be open to a departure given the various links to other sides.

Meanwhile, Kulusevski has struggled to make an impact in Turin since his £30m transfer from Atalanta in January 2020.

The attacker has scored just seven goals in 56 appearances and Spurs could sign the Swede in an initial loan with an obligation to buy for a similar fee to the amount Juve paid.

Spurs have looked a little light in midfield and in attack. Both players would be welcome additions to a squad that has struggled in the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.

Three wins from Nuno’s opening three league matches were followed by a disappointing run of a trio of defeats.

Spurs conceded three goals each in games against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal.

A 2-1 win over Aston Villa prior to the international break offered a slight respite, but Nuno remains under pressure to find a consistent run of form.

Paratici said upon his appointment that his role will be to elevate Spurs to the next level.

“It is a big experience and I am so happy and so excited for this new experience,” he told the club’s website in June.

“A new experience always gives you new energy, power, motivation and I hope to give to Spurs my passion for sure, my work, my time and I hope to build something very good and better than we have done before.

“We (Juventus and Spurs) met two years ago in the Champions League. They were two big matches and I know Tottenham is a fantastic, amazing club and they did so well in the past 20 years.

“They have built a fantastic stadium and a fantastic training ground. There is a big squad and I hope to arrive to this type of level for the next years and to help this club remain at this level but to also be better, to build something new and something better in the next years.”
