Tottenham have been urged to consider four new manager options to replace Antonio Conte. Former Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Bosnich left Mauricio Pochettino out of the quartet of names he suggested.

Conte’s future at Tottenham is in serious doubt. The Italian launched an incredible rant about the club and its owners following Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Southampton.

His contract expires at the end of the season and there is a growing feeling he will be on his way after failing to end Spurs’ wait for silverware. Pochettino is the name on the lips of many Tottenham fans and pundits to make a return to the club.

The Argentine is out of work having left Paris Saint-Germain last summer. But Bosnich has put forward four alternatives, including Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim and Luciano Spalletti, who is spearheading Napoli towards their first Serie A title since 1990.

Luis Enrique is between jobs after resigning as Spain boss after the World Cup, while Ange Postecoglou is impressing at Celtic. Bosnich also put both of their names in the mix.

He told Sky Sports News: “If you’re talking about the long term and who should come in, there’s plenty of names. There was one that coached a team against their north London rivals during the week, Ruben Amorim for Sporting CP, who’s done a fantastic job there.

“This is a club in Sporting that continues to sell players, sell players, sell players. They’re actually unfortunate, they were in Tottenham’s [Champions League] group, they were unfortunate not to go to the round of 16 in the Champions League but now they’re in the quarter-finals of the Europa.

“There’s obviously Luis Enrique, I’m sure people will mention Spaletti. There’s also Ange Postecoglu, the Australian, who’s doing so well at Celtic. These are all names that they’re going to have.”

Some Tottenham fans feel Saturday’s outburst was the final straw for Conte and he should not be allowed to see out the rest of the season, while reports claim some of the players feel the same. Bosnich says that belief is also shared Down Under.

He added: “There’s a lot of Tottenham supporters down here in Australia saying ‘why do we wait until the end of the season? Why not just do it now?’. That may have prompted the outburst.

“He may have heard down the line that they are speaking to people but that’s completely understandable because so far as we’re all concerned, it’s both sides that don’t really want to commit to a long-term contract.”
