The associates of Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu are confident that he will be a Tottenham player by the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Arsenal also said to be weighing up a move for his services.
The Gunners have already signed Ben White in a £50million move from Brighton and Hove Albion to shore up their defensive ranks ahead of the new campaign.
However, Mikel Arteta is eyeing a large-scale overhaul of his playing squad this summer and it has been suggested that Tomiyasu could follow the England defender to the Emirates Stadium.
This would see Arsenal beat their north London rivals, who have reportedly been locked in negotiations for some time, to the Japan international’s signature.
Spurs were said to have seen a bid in the region of £15million rejected by Bologna before the Tokyo Olympics, with Tomiyasu eventually helping his country to a fourth-placed finish on home soil.
Negotiations are believed to have stalled in recent weeks, but those involved in the deal from the player’s side are confident that he will eventually join Spurs over Arsenal, according to football.london.

It is claimed that Fabio Paratici is a huge admirer of the defender from his time in Italy, with the 49-year-old expected to keep pushing to secure his signature.
Like Arsenal, Spurs have already moved to strengthen their back line with the addition of Cristian Romero from Atalanta.
The 23-year-old has penned a five-year deal after the Serie A heavyweights accepted a bid in the region of £47million with add-ons.
It seems as though Tomiyasu could be set to join Romero at Spurs in the coming weeks if Paratici is able to negotiate a fee with Bologna.
Winger Bryan Gil and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini arrived at the club earlier this summer to become the first and second additions of the Italian’s tenure.
New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo recently suggested that he is looking to supplement his ranks with additional signings in order to return to the Premier League’s upper reaches this season.
“Spurs are always, as you can imagine, working very hard on that aspect because we need [more players],” Nuno told reporters after his side’s pre-season draw with Chelsea on Wednesday night.
“But I truly believe it’s very hard to improve on our squad. We have very talented players, very good players and we need to be balanced of course.

“But Steve [Hitchen] and Fabio [Paratici] don’t have an easy work in terms of improving our squad so we need to be accurate and choose the right players.”
Meanwhile, a number of the club’s existing stars have been shipped out by Paratici, with Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela among the highest-profile names to have left Spurs in recent weeks.
The former joined Qatari outfit Al-Duhail for a reported fee of £11.7m, while the latter was sent to Sevilla as part of the deal that saw Gil move the other way.
Juan Foyth, Danny Rose and Joe Hart have also departed the club ahead of the new Premier League season.
