Tottenham star Ndombele branded "spoilt brat" for response to Morecambe sub

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been laying into Tanguy Ndombele after the midfielder stormed down the tunnel after being substituted in Sunday's FA Cup third round tie against Morecombe.

The 25-year-old was dragged off mid-way through the second half with Spurs 1-0 down to the League One side, and was booed by sections of the home supporters after deciding to head for the showers instead of joining his teammates on the bench.

Antonio Conte's side eventually turned things around with Harry Winks, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane netting late goals to deny Morecombe a famous victory.

But despite the win, Spurs fans weren't in any mood to forgive Ndombele with some on social media demanding he never play for the club again.

"Get rid! What has he really done at Spurs?" asked one supporter.

"Should Tanguy Ndombele ever pull on a #thfc shirt again?" tweeted another.

Another said: "Ndombele. Disrespecting the fans, players, the club. Never want to see him make the matchday squad again."

Fans were similarly furious with the way the Frenchman slowly trudged off the field after being substituted.

By contrast, Bryan Gil – who was taken off at the same time – sprinted over from the other side of the pitch to try and save as many valuable seconds as he could.

Unless they're injured, should players be banned from heading down the tunnel after being subbed off? Let us know what you think in the comments section…

Ndombele has struggled to live up to expectations since joining Tottenham in a club-record £53.8m move from Lyon in 2019, and Conte urged the midfielder to put the graft in to get the fans back on side.

"You have to be good to try to change your opinion. If someone is disappointed with you it's normal," the Italian said.

"We have to know very well that if we perform well, the fans are happy. If you don't perform well, the fans are not happy. This is football."
