Tottenham sent clear message on denying Cristiano Ronaldo’s request
Tottenham Hotspur have been sent a clear message about denying Cristiano Ronaldo his ‘request at Al-Nassr’ of appointing Zinedine Zidane as their next manager. Zidane is one of the most prized managers currently not in a job after leading Real Madrid to three straight Champions League crowns between 2016 and 2018.
Spurs have been searching for a new manager since Antonio Conte left following a 3-3 draw with Southampton. Chairman Daniel Levy is weighing up his options with Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann and Ruben Amorim amongst the names being muted – while Zidane would be a huge appointment.
The French playing legend has been without a club since leaving Madrid after a disappointing season by his high standards in 2021. After a season out of management Chelsea and Spurs are amongst the names hoping to tempt the 50-year-old back into management.
Fellow Frenchman William Gallas has played for both London clubs but had a message for Spurs fans hoping for a huge Zidane appointment. He told Genting Casino: “Zidane won’t go to Tottenham, no way will he go there.
“It’s not possible Zidane will go to Tottenham because he knows it won’t work for him. I’m sure he’s looked at the squad, assessed it and looked at what happened to Conte, and decided not to go there.
“I think Zidane would have to change lots of players not at the level he wants to compete for the Premier League.” The views of Gallas will be music to the ears of Chelsea fans and also Ronaldo who wants to tempt the French star to replace Rudi Garcia at Al-Nassr, according to reports.

With Ronaldo playing under Zidane at Madrid, the pair won three consecutive Champions League titles and he now wants the Frenchman to take a lucrative role in the Middle East. CBS Sports claim that Al-Nassr have already made a verbal offer to Zidane in the hope of convincing him to take charge, with the help of Ronaldo.
Chelsea have been urged to make a move themselves to appoint Zidane by former right-back Glen Johnson. He said: “I believe the players need a manager that’s going to walk in and grab their attention. Chelsea’s dressing room is full of big players and the club needs a manager that’s going to demand respect from them from day one. A top ex-footballer will do that.”
