Tottenham have seen two bids knocked back by Middlesbrough for full-back Djed Spence, according to reports. Spurs are not shying away from last-gasp deadline day deals as they look to bundle more incomings over the line following the captures of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Juventus duo are set to be unveiled as Tottenham players before Monday night’s deadline but technical director Fabio Paratici is still working on other potential incomings.

A right-wing-back was on the agenda for Antonio Conte earlier in the window with Wolves’ Adama Traore under serious consideration.

Yet similarly to last summer, Tottenham failed to agree on a fee with Wolves, who later shook hands with Traore’s former club Barcelona on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

Now it appears attentions have turned to Championship star Spence, who recently impressed in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 FA Cup third-round triumph over Arsenal.

The Gunners are also eyeing Spence while Brentford are interested in a deal for the 21-year-old Londoner as well.

According to ESPN, Tottenham have now seen two bids rejected for Spence by his parent club Middlesbrough.

The offers are said to have been submitted last week when Boro told Spurs they valued the player at close to £15m.

Forest have already agreed an additional loan fee with their fellow Championship club to keep Spence on loan for the remainder of the season.

Spurs were hoping to potentially move Matt Doherty on in order to free up space to bring in a new signing at wing-back.

Interest in the former Wolves man has been limited though and Doherty has been away from north London during the break, complicating any exit.

There could be plenty of movement though at Spurs before the window slams shut.

Tanguy Ndombele is in France where he is set to rejoin Lyon on loan with an option to buy.

Talks were also held with the French club over Giovani Lo Celso, who is currently away on international duty with Argentina.

If Lo Celso is to depart, Villarreal looks the far more likely destination with the player seemingly keen on a return to La Liga.

Bryan Gil is set to join Valencia on loan while Dele Alli is also attracting permanent interest from Everton.

Tottenham are thought to be open-minded about further signings permitting the right opportunity arrives.
