Tottenham ‘research’ seven managers as Daniel Levy changes plans
Klopp previews Liverpool's Premier League clash with Tottenham
Daniel Levy has reportedly revamped the managerial shortlist left by former Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici, with the chairman now focusing on a collection of relatively young candidates to succeed Antonio Conte on a permanent basis.
Spurs are currently on their third boss of the campaign, with Conte axed in March and his interim successor, Cristian Stellini, given his marching orders after just four games. Ryan Mason, the youngest manager to ever take charge of a Premier League match, has been in the dugout for the past two matches.
While the 31-year-old claims that he is ‘ready’ to take the job on permanently, the fact his side have shipped six goals in two games so far is unlikely to help his case. Tottenham drew 2-2 with Manchester United in his first match before being beaten 4-3 by Liverpool on Sunday.
Contributing to the chaotic landscape in north London is Paratici’s exit, after having his 30-month ban extended to worldwide football-related activities by FIFA.

Levy therefore needs to appoint a new sporting director and a new manager before the start of next season. Paratici supposedly narrowed his managerial shortlist down to Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi and Sergio Conceicao.
According to football.london, Levy has made a shortlist of his own, tweaking Paratici’s approach with a focus on younger managers. Nagelsmann and De Zerbi are believed to have remained among the seven names researched, along with five other exciting candidates.

Feyenoord coach Arne Slot is in demand as his side power towards the Eredivisie title. Vincent Kompany, meanwhile, has already clinched the Championship crown during his first season as Burnley boss, although many feel that asking the former Manchester City defender to step up would be a big gamble.
Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is nurturing an exciting reputation in the Bundesliga, and while Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim has been linked to top jobs for some time, he supposedly remains a name of interest to Levy.
Older than most on the seven-man shortlist is Ange Postecoglou, who has once again turned Celtic into Scottish football’s dominant force, earning new admirers by playing an attractive brand of football in the process.
Those seven names aside, Mason has a four-game stretch in which he will try to persuade Levy of his managerial credentials, starting with Crystal Palace’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
