Tottenham reach out to Orban’s agent as Harry Kane alternative rejects move

Kane set to be offered RECORD wages as Levy U-turns on hard Tottenham stance

Tottenham have reportedly reached out to the representatives of Gent striker Gift Orban. Despite chairman Daniel Levy rejecting Bayern Munich’s latest offer for Harry Kane, Spurs are understood to be scouring the market for a new forward.

Levy met with Bayern representatives on Monday but the two parties failed to come to an agreement over a transfer for the England captain. The Bundesliga champions remain £25m away from a price Spurs would consider.

That has not stopped the Premier League outfit seeking alternatives should Kane depart before the end of the transfer window. Bayern striker Mathys Tel has reportedly been considered but insisted his plan is to remain in Germany.

He told Sky Sport Germany: “Of course I want to get better at FC Bayern. I always want to learn and speak and work. In my mind there’s only FC Bayern. Today I’m in Munich, playing for FC Bayern. Always FC Bayern, Mia San Mia!”

Spurs have reportedly since turned their attention to highly-rated Gent star Orban. According to Belgian publication Nieuwsblad, Spurs have contacted the agents of the 21-year-old star to see if a deal might be possible.

Gent reportedly hope to receive a record fee for the youngster, with the £23m they received from Lille for Jonathan David in 2020 their current record sale. The Belgian outfit know that they might struggle to keep Orban given the interest from top European clubs.

Orban scored 20 goals in 22 appearances last season and has already started this term with as two strikes in as many appearances. There have also been links with Lille, who could pair him with former Gent man David.

Meanwhile, Spurs hope to keep hold of Kane for the remaining 12 months of his contract. The 30-year-old has reportedly not ruled out signing a new contract with the north Londoners if Ange Postecoglou gets off to a good start.

According to the Evening Standard, Kane will not seek a transfer if he is still at the club after the start of the Premier League season in two weeks’ time. The report claims that he would deem it unfair on the club to leave once the campaign has commenced, leaving them with little time to source a top-quality replacement.

Bayern remain interested in securing a deal for the Three Lions star. However, they face further tough negotiations with Levy.
