Tottenham technical director Fabio Paratici has reportedly lined up Alvaro Morata as a potential replacement for Harry Kane if the England captain pushes to leave the club again in January or next summer. The 28-year-old reluctantly agreed to stay in north London at the beginning of the season despite outlining his desire for a fresh challenge amid interest from Manchester City.

While the season started on a positive note for Spurs with three wins from three before the first international break, their form has since deteriorated.

Kane is yet to hit top form either – despite a hat-trick in the Europa League – and his performances have faced scrutiny.

Nonetheless, Paratici remains adamant Kane is committed to Spurs as he dismissed talk about his future.

“Harry Kane loves Tottenham. We’ve decided to keep Harry last summer to start the rebuilding, and we’re happy with our choice,” he said at the Festival dello Sport event.

“There’s no need for any new talks with Harry. He knows how to share the sense of belonging to Spurs.”

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato though, Paratici is said to have a potential replacement in mind in the form of Chelsea flop Morata.

The Spaniard has flattered to deceive at a number of big clubs throughout his career with the striker now back at Juventus.

It’s claimed that Spurs could look to take a punt on Morata if they are faced with the prospect of losing star man Kane in the future.

Paratici was also quick to diffuse the suggestion Tottenham could enter the fray for Fiorentina frontman Dusan Vlahovic.

The 21-year-old is developing a reputation as one of the finest young centre-forwards in Europe and talks over a new contract with the Serie A side have now broken down.

“Dusan Vlahovic is appreciated by many clubs, it’s normal – he’s not in our plans, for now,” Paratici added.

“I’m not gonna speak about Dusan Vlahovic as he’s under contract with Fiorentina… and also because we’ve got Harry Kane who’s the best centre-striker in the world.”

Tottenham are expected to go shopping for a new striker next summer, regardless of whether Kane stays.

The club failed to bring in a replacement for last season’s loanee Carlos Vinicius, who has now joined PSV Eindhoven from Benfica.

Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez was also on the agenda after Spurs had a £60m deal in place with the Serie A champions.

However, Chelsea’s £97.5m club-record deal to sign Romelu Lukaku saw Inter put the brakes on the sale of the Argentine.
