Tottenham hunt new midfielder with Tanguy Ndombele considering transfer options
Tottenham are trying to sign a midfielder with Tanguy Ndombele’s future shrouded in doubt.
Ndombele is considering his options after being frozen out in pre-season by new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
And, with the Frenchman’s future uncertain, Spurs have drawn up a shortlist of targets to reinforce a key area of the squad.
They include Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria and Joao Palhinha of Sporting Lisbon.
Ndombele was not even in the squad for the recent friendlies with Arsenal and Chelsea – despite being declared fit.
And the £55m France midfielder, who was a club-record buy from Lyon two years ago, is believed to be unhappy with the way he’s been treated.
Spurs boss Nuno wants at least two more signings brought in before the end of the window.
But the club have had a loan bid for £51m-rated Portugal midfielder Palhinha rejected, with Sporting holding out for a £34m permanent transfer.
They have also enquired about 27-year-old France international Tolisso, who could be available for less than £10m as his contract is up next summer.

And Switzerland star Zakaria, 24, who is rated at around £17m, has also emerged as an option.
Spurs remain in the market for a striker, who they hope to partner with Harry Kane if the England captain stays at the club.
But no progress has been made in talks to sign Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez.
And another target, Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina, has interest from elsewhere, including Atletico Madrid and Arsenal.
Spurs, though, may not have the draw of Kane for potential new players for much longer as he continues to be linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 28-year-old has told Spurs he wants to leave this summer in search of silverware but chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to let him go unless his £150million valuation is met.
