Tottenham have Harry Kane replacement as Spurs ‘eye next deal’

Bayern agree £95million deal with Tottenham to sign Kane

Tottenham will back Richarlison to replace Harry Kane if the England captain completes his move to Bayern Munich, reports claim. The Premier League side have supposedly accepted a £95million bid for Kane from the German champions.

Richarlison was a £60m arrival last summer but struggled for game time under Antonio Conte. The Brazilian scored just one Premier League goal, bagging his two other strikes in the Champions League.

A falling out with Conte marred the 26-year-old’s first campaign at Spurs. Richarlison publicly complained about his lack of game time after Spurs were dumped out of Europe by AC Milan.

Conte responded by saying the former Everton striker had been ‘s***’. The Italian lasted a matter of weeks in his job, dismissed following another fiery rant after Spurs were pegged back by Southampton in March.

According to The Times, Richarlison is expected to lead the forward line if Kane does depart. The report adds that a younger striker will be signed to provide back-up to the Brazil international.

It is claimed that Gent ace Gift Orban or Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson have been identified as players who could do that role. Head coach Ange Postecoglou will have money to spend if Kane’s deal goes through.

It will not be ideal for the Australian to lose Kane two days before Spurs’ campaign gets underway against Brentford on Sunday. But he already seems to have a plan in place, with Richarlison likely to start as the centre-forward.

Postecoglou is likely to enter the market for a young forward despite the arrival of Argentine talent Alejo Veliz. The 19-year-old joined on the same day as Spurs completed a deal for the former Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven.

“We’re really pleased to get them into the squad,” Postecoglou said. “Micky van de Ven we’ve been on to for a while. Just great profile for a centre-back particularly for the way we want to play. Physically he’s quite commanding and he’s got a real presence about him. He’s a left-sided centre-back which helps in the structure of the team.

“Really ambitious young man. He’s only had a year in the Bundesliga. He was at Volendam before that. It’s not like he was at a big club before that. He’s making strides and hopefully this jump is another one with which we see him really develop.”

He added: “With young Veliz, he’s one we identified and he’s got a lot of talent for a youngster. He’s got a great profile. He’s a big guy but he’s very mobile and he works hard. He’s already made an impact in the Argentine first division and again good to have him in.”
