Newcastle face a frantic week in the transfer market as they desperately pursue new players to help them in their quest to avoid relegation to the Championship. The Magpies have now fallen into the Premier League relegation zone and appear to be staring over the precipice.
Eddie Howe was appointed as Newcastle’s new boss in November following the sacking of Steve Bruce. But the former Bournemouth manager has only been able to guide the team to two victories since then.
One of those came at the weekend, however, as the north east giants saw off Leeds United 1-0. Howe will be busy trying to find the right players before the window slams shut next Monday – and he could turn his attentions to Tottenham’s out-of-favour stars.
Express Sport takes a look at four Tottenham players who are all available, according to the Evening Standard, and could help Newcastle in their bid to stay up.
Dele Alli
Dele Alli is the enigmatic talent who is in danger of seeing his career fizzle out.
Once the darling of English football, he struggles to get a game with Tottenham now and appears to have left his best days well and truly behind him.

But a move to Newcastle could reignite his desire to be a Premier League superstar. And he is someone who could certainly have a big impact in the north east.
Alli has 51 Premier League goals to his name – and if Newcastle could persuade him to move to St James’ Park, he could make a big difference between now and May.
Giovani Lo Celso
Giovani Lo Celso is another big-name player who can’t get in the team at Spurs.
The 25-year-old has 36 caps for Argentina but has fallen down the pecking order in north London.
Lo Celso suffered a knee injury in November and is yet to start a Premier League game under Antonio Conte.
And he appears to be surplus to requirements in the capital – so Newcastle could take advantage and pounce.
Japhet Tanganga
Japhet Tanganga burst onto the scene at Spurs two years ago as he was handed his debut in a Premier League clash against Liverpool.
The centre-back had never made a senior appearance for the club before he was thrown in at the deep end by Jose Mourinho.
He looked destined to become a Spurs superstar as he subsequently made six starts in quick succession, before going down with a back injury.
But Tanganga, who is still only 22, is still a bit-part player at the club and has been in and out of the team this season.
At Newcastle, however, he would surely become a key player to help shore the defence up.
Joe Rodon
Tottenham signed Joe Rodon from Championship side Swansea City in 2020 but the centre-back has made just 21 first-team appearances, with only 13 of those coming in the Premier League.
His solitary top-flight appearance this campaign came in September’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old doesn’t look like he will force his way into Conte’s team any time soon, so could well jump at the chance to move to Newcastle.
