Tottenham have found ‘their own Klopp’ in Slot as Levy finally nails appointment
Tottenham have found their own Jurgen Klopp in Arne Slot, according to Simon Jordan. Spurs chairman has been lambasted for recent managerial appointments but he may have finally found the right candidate.
Slot is the overwhelming favourite to become the next permanent Tottenham manager. The Dutchman has impressed in his home country, leading Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title this season, 12 months after reaching the Europa Conference League final.
The 44-year-old has earned comparisons to Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola. But Jordan believes his impact at Tottenham could be more like Klopp’s at Liverpool.
Slot won’t have a huge transfer budget to bring in his own signings and, like Klopp, may have to sell players in order to raise funds. Jordan believes Slot will also bring a style of football to Tottenham that fans have craved in recent years.

Jordan said on talkSPORT: “What he’s always needed, and it’s easy for me to say, is someone like Klopp, that build the club from the fanbase through to the ownership model. Klopp hasn’t been given an embarrassment of riches, he’s taken [Philippe] Coutinho, slung him out of the door, got £150m and bought Virgil van Dijk and the goalkeeper, Alisson, and built around that.
“So this is why this Slot character, at this stage in his development, coming from Dutch football, winning in Dutch football, coming here and playing a brand of football that will excite the Tottenham fans and get that noise quelled about how they play.
“And then get the other noise quelled about winning games and being able to attract some talent into the dressing room that is going to be reflective of what the Tottenham fans want.”

Tottenham sacked Antonio Conte in March after a turbulent few months in north London. The Italian lasted less than 18 months after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.
Jordan reckons Slot will be an easier manager for Levy to get on with, especially after the troubles he faced with his predecessor. He added: “I think it’s not a bad fit because Daniel will be able to work with him.
“He won’t have these prima-donnas like Conte that are perhaps past their sell-by date in being prepared to accept certain foibles and peculiarities, because unless they have exactly what they want and when they want for their £15million-a-year salary, they’ll make no compromise and they’ll set everybody on fire.”
