Tottenham have double session on same day as Brighton game should have been

Tottenham Hotspur’s first team have returned to training following the Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

Antonio Conte’s side were meant to be facing Brighton on Sunday, but the game was postponed, with the same also happening with their meeting with Rennes in the European Conference League earlier in the week.

Despite the disruption to their schedule, first team members returned to the club’s Enfield HQ for a double training session, according to the Mail Online.

Both players and staff had been forced to isolate after testing positive for Covid.

This also caused a section of the training ground to be closed down as well.

It is believed the buildings at the centre remained shut during the double session on Sunday, with the players arriving to train, before heading straight home.

The club needed approval by the Premier League and the Health Security Agency for the sessions to take place and will continue to work under tough restrictions before officially re-opening later this week.

It is planned for the first-team facilities to be fully back in business from Tuesday.

The return to training could also mean their meeting with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night can go ahead, despite the game previously being in doubt.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will head into the game with a more positive mid-set following a dominant 4-0 victory over Newcastle.

The Foxes will hope that win will help them turn a corner, after a poor run of form heading into Sunday’s match.

Meanwhile, the Covid outbreak was the last thing Conte needed at Tottenham, as he looks to put his stamp on the team after taking over in November.

His side have three of his four Premier League games in charge, with their other result being a draw.

Despite this, it hasn’t been completely smooth sailing, with a 2-1 defeat against Mura in Europe.
