Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Ajax playmaker Mohamed Kudus, though face stiff competition in their pursuit of the versatile attacker. The Ghana international is also attracting interest from Everton and Borussia Dortmund.

Spurs spent over £150million during the summer transfer window as Daniel Levy granted Antonio Conte his wish of a major overhaul. Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma were amongst those welcomed to north London, with the club now reaping the benefits of that spending.

Despite a crushing defeat to rivals Arsenal last weekend, Tottenham remain third in the Premier League and they look likely to be battling it out for Champions League football once more at the end of the campaign. Though Spurs are already considering future acquisitions.

According to BILD, Tottenham are in the race to secure the signature of Kudus, who has scored four goals in eight league appearances for Ajax this season. However, Dortmund are likely to be at the front of the queue for the 22-year-old.

Kudus is reportedly valued at £8.7million, which would be a cut-price acquisition for Spurs given that he is ‘on their list’. But Dortmund are likely to prove an attractive prospect given that the Bundesliga outfit will be able to guarantee the Ghana international regular opportunities.

At Tottenham, Kudus would face the uphill task of displacing either Son Heung-min, Harry Kane or Dejan Kulusevski in Conte’s side – with Richarlison also impressing since his arrival and proving a talented option in the final third too. Lucas Moura is also waiting in the wings for an opportunity, though he was linked with an exit over the summer given his lack of minutes.

Tottenham are likely to be busy over the coming transfer windows, especially with several stars already appearing surplus to requirements at the club. Conte was vocal recently about how he feels the club are several transfer windows away from being able to compete for silverware, saying: “Now we have to go step by step, have patience, take time, you need to have time and to build an important squad to face a competition like the Champions League.

“If you think ‘yeah I want to make some rotations’ and it is a bit difficult. We know this situation with the club and the club knows very well we need time and patience, to try to go step by step. I spoke about the transfer market, that we needed more transfer markets to reach a good level. We know this. At the same time, we want to be competitive, to try to do everything.”
