Tottenham hammered by Graeme Souness after dismal Arsenal first-half
Graeme Souness hammered Tottenham Hotspur after their first half display against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were defeated 3-1 in the North London derby, conceding all their goals in the opening 45 minutes.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday coverage, Souness criticised the dismal performance, and called out certain players.
On the build-up to the first goal, he said: “He has to do better there, Harry Kane. If you don’t win the header, make sure the defender doesn’t win it, disappointing.
“Spurs in that first half have been shocking, Arsenal have been fabulous, but Spurs have contributed to that.”
After Kane lost the aerial battle with Ben White, the ball eventually came to Bukayo Saka on the right win, with the young attacker putting a great ball into the box for the unmarked Emile Smith-Rowe to finish past Hugo Lloris.
Arsenal’s second goal came through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just before the half hour mark, but Spurs thought they should’ve been awarded a free-kick in the build-up on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Souness said: “I definitely think there’s contact. He’s made contact with the player and not got the ball, but after this it’s just fabulous football and a good finish.
“It’s not an easy finish, doesn’t get a good strike on it and he actually hits into the floor, but it goes into the back of the net.
“Rapid, rapid going forward Arsenal. They look fabulous on the attack.”

Saka turned goal scorer for the third, as he extended the Gunners’ lead in the 34 th minute, to give Mikel Arteta’s strong half time lead.
A consolation goal from Son Heung-Min merely gave slight hope of a miraculous comeback, but Arsenal kept them at arm’s length, with help from Aaron Ramsdale in goal, who made some excellent saves.
