Tottenham ‘forcing’ Kane to stay again as fans say ‘Spurs don’t deserve him’

Rival football fans have criticised Tottenham for reportedly forcing Harry Kane to stay put once again this summer amid transfer interest from Manchester United.

Spurs' talisman has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere at the end of the season when his contract will enter its final 12 months. Kane, 29, broke the record to become Tottenham's all-time top goalscorer earlier this year but has failed to win a trophy during his time with the club.

Tottenham's exit from the Champions League last week means Kane will have to wait at least another year before he can potentially get his hands on some silverware, though with United circling, it could be the ideal time to jump ship for pastures new. However, Daniel Levy is not prepared to let his star striker go.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs are unwilling to sell Kane this summer, despite the threat of losing him for nothing next year. Kane came close to leaving previously back in the summer of 2021 when Manchester City made a bid of £100million, only for it to be rejected by Spurs. Pep Guardiola's side ultimately went on to sign Erling Haaland instead.

Levy has a reputation as an incredibly tough negotiator and any potential suitors would likely have to break the bank to sign Kane this summer. But given his advancing years, it seems unlikely that United or other interested clubs would fork out huge cash for the striker, potentially leaving him in limbo.

The report claims Spurs' stance is regardless of their final finish in the Premier League this season, with Champions League qualification still not secure. Tottenham chiefs are keen to get a new deal over the line for Kane as a matter of priority, but talks are currently at a standstill and there is no indication he will put pen to paper on an extension.

Fans of Spurs' rivals feel Kane's loyalty should be rewarded by letting him move on to try and seek trophies elsewhere. "Just let the lad leave," one wrote on Twitter, as another commented: "He's going to have to force his way like every other player that won't be given their move."

Others pointed to the fact keeping Kane was not wise from a business perspective, writing: "So lose him for free next summer? Smart!"

Kane has hinted in the past he would have to leave Spurs to fulfil his career ambitions if his quest for trophies and regular Champions League football is not met. Tottenham appear to be approaching another crossroads with the future of current boss Antonio Conte uncertain.

One fan wrote: "Tottenham don't deserve Harry Kane. He gives it all for the club but they have no intention on moving forward in any front. Sad."
