Tottenham flops told to reimburse fans that left Newcastle loss early
Tottenham legend Chris Waddle has declared the club’s players should personally reimburse the hard-earned cash supporters spent travelling to Newcastle to witness their 6-1 horror show against the Magpies on Sunday. Cristian Stellini’s wretched side totally capitulated on Tyneside and incredibly found themselves 5-0 down inside just 20 minutes in a result that has plunged Spurs into yet another crisis.
A number of supporters were actually pictured heading for the exit door just nine minutes into the contest after Jacob Murphy put Newcastle 3-0 up with a 25-yard stunner.
And Waddle believes Spurs’ shameful flops should dig their hands into their pockets to refund the fans that made the 500-mile round trip to the North East.
He said on BBC 5Live: “Newcastle have done their job and played with pride but you have to question Tottenham’s pride in the shirt.
“These Tottenham players should reimburse the travelling fans because this is literally one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen. They consider themselves as a top four club. It is embarrassing.”

Tottenham’s supporters have already been served up a whole host of underwhelming displays this season but their abysmal showing at Newcastle undoubtedly tops the lot.
Had they beaten the Magpies, Spurs would have been in with a great shout of finishing inside the top-four and securing Champions League football for next season.
Now the team are playing for virtually nothing but pride and barring a miracle, they will not be playing in Europe’s elite club competition during the 2023/24 campaign.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher is adamant under-fire owner Daniel Levy should now sack caretaker boss Stellini following his side’s stomach-churning display.

“Newcastle are brilliant, they have been all season,” Carragher said on Twitter.
“Tottenham are a disgrace! How have they gone to a back four for the first time this season, with [Pedro] Porro a full back that can’t defend & [Ivan] Perisic who is a winger.”
The Italian caretaker boss was left stunned by Tottenham’s turbulent performance which could also have implications for the future of Harry Kane.
“There are no words to explain a performance like this,” said Stellini. “The first 25 minutes were maybe the worst I have ever seen.
“We could not match Newcastle’s performance, we were late in all aspects of the game. It was very embarrassing. It is very painful.”
Eddie Howe’s side now look to be on the home straight for a top-four finish after responding emphatically to last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
Brighton, Villa and Liverpool will still feel hopeful that they can somehow gatecrash the top-four come the end of the season.
Tottenham face Manchester United next on Thursday and supporters will be desperate to see a response as Spurs’ season threatens to finish with a whimper.
