Tottenham fans jubilant as Arsenal slip up in Champions League race at Newcastle
Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left ecstatic by Arsenal's huge slip-up in the race for Champions League.
The Gunners continued as they left it against Spurs last week with another calamitous performance against Newcastle on Monday night. Mikel Arteta's side were thoroughly outclassed at St James' Park and were lucky to only lose the game 2-0.
Their devastating result all but handed a top-four spot to bitter rivals Tottenham, who are now two points ahead and just need a draw from their remaining game. Fans of the rival north London club were elated at the final whistle, taking to Twitter poke fun at the Gunners' meltdown.
One fan wrote: “Tonight was pure, unadulterated bottle from Arsenal. No ref excuses to blame, no missed chances to rue, no selection complaints. Nothing to blame but their own ability and mentality.”
Another tweeted: "Poor old Arsenal… everywhere they go."
A third wrote: "What makes it better is Spurs beat Arsenal on Thursday, and stayed in Arsenal players’ heads till Monday & beat em again, Newcastle finished them off."

Arsenal boss Arteta could not hide his disappointment in his post-match interview. The Spaniard conceded that the Magpies deserved to win while questioning whether his side were good enough to play in Europe's top competition at their current level.
He commented: "It’s extremely disappointing that Newcastle worked 10 times harder than us and won the match and the performance is nowhere near we have to play if we want to play in the Champions League."
Arteta added: "It was in our hands, now it’s not, we have to beat Everton and hope for Norwich to beat Spurs and we have to wait now. There’s always a chance in football and you have to be there just in case."
