Tottenham fans’ anger boils over with Daniel Levy chants
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been the subject of chants by supporters in the stands, who held a protest against owners ENIC ahead of their game against Manchester United as anger boiled over. After Spurs’ 6-1 defeat at Newcastle on Sunday fans and pundits alike have taken aim at chairman Levy as Spurs’ season has imploded with the sacking of Cristian Stellini.
ENIC are the largest shareholders in Tottenham and appointed Daniel Levy as chairman and onto the club’s board when they bought 27% of the club’s shares off Sir Alan Sugar in 2001. However, Levy is under fire by Tottenham fans and “we want Levy out” chants were heard at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during their Premier League match against Manchester United.
The man behind owners ENIC is Bahamas-based billionaire Joe Lewis who is rarely seen at the Tottenham Stadium with Levy the public face of the company. In recent years the owners have invested in a state-of-the-art training facility built in Enfield and the £800million new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened in 2019.
