Tottenham face fight to sign Luis Diaz as Porto make transfer position clear

Tottenham have been told to forget about signing Luis Diaz unless they meet his full £67million release clause.

Porto are determined not to sell the red-hot Colombia forward in this window and Spurs are currently a long way from his valuation.

The north London club are willing to offer £38m rising to £42m with add-ons for the 25-year-old, who has scored 16 goals in 28 games for his club this season.

But Porto are top of the Portuguese league and do not want to lose their star player halfway through the season with time running out in the window to replace him.

So Spurs will have to break the bank to keep their hopes alive – and while Diaz is understood to be keen to play in the Premier League, he is in no rush to make a move.

Tottenham are also trying to bring in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on loan – but need to move Tanguy Ndombele on first.

French giants PSG are in talks to sign Ndombele on loan but Spurs want an obligatory purchase option included in the deal.

Boss Antonio Conte wants at least three new signings brought in this month, and is also keen on Adama Traore.

But Spurs have yet to make an official bid for the Wolves winger and there are fears other clubs could yet come in for him.

Tottenham misfit Dele Alli is also set to leave, with Newcastle favourites to sign the former England midfielder.

And Spurs will also listen to offers for Giovani Lo Celso as Conte prepartes to shake up his squad.

Tottenham are currently seventh in the Premier League table but only two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, with two games in hand.

And Conte believes a top-four finish is possible if the club can strengthen in key areas this month.
