Bayern Munich have reportedly hijacked Tottenham’s move for Thomas Tuchel, with the former Chelsea boss expected to be appointed at the Allianz Arena imminently. Spurs are currently eying up replacements for Antonio Conte following his recent outbursts, though they may now have missed out on their top target.

Conte appeared to have accelerate his departure from Tottenham over the weekend when he took aim at his team and the board, implying that he has faced an uphill task in trying to guide Spurs to a piece of silverware.

Ryan Mason has been tipped as a potential interim until the summer, though it has emerged that Daniel Levy is reportedly eying a permanent appointment. Kicker report that Tuchel was being heavily considered by Spurs and advanced talks were held with the German, but Bayern have now swooped in to steal him from under their noses.

Tuchel was keen on the project at Tottenham, though the ‘very close talks’ were soon forgotten when Bayern came calling after Julian Nagelsmann was sacked by the Bundesliga outfit. Spurs are now forced to weigh up their alternative option and could now be tempted to postpone their next appointment until the summer when time is not of the essence.

The speculated snub from Tuchel could push Tottenham to reignite their interest in Nagelsmann, having been heavily linked with the 35-year-old before appointing Conte. The German has impressed over the years in the Bundesliga, though it remains unclear as to why Bayern decided to cut ties with the young coach.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Brentford’s Thomas Frank has both also been linked with replacing Tottenham, though the Premier League duo played down the speculation in the media. Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper also insisted that he was committed to his work at the City Ground after it emerged that Spurs were amongst the clubs monitoring his progress.
