Tottenham chiefs confident Harry Kane now set to stay due to ‘rebuild’ plans

Tottenham Hotspur chiefs are confident that Harry Kane is now set to stay at the club going forward due to their plans to 'rebuild' the squad.

Kane had been keen to leave the club to join Manchester City in the summer with the Premier League champions failing with two bids to lure him away from Spurs.

Ultimately, Kane announced he would be staying at Spurs and Paratici has now revealed that he believes this will be for the long term as they look to 'rebuild'.

He has also said that Kane still 'loves the club' despite the events of the summer transfer window.

Paratici said: "Harry Kane loves Tottenham.

"We’ve decided to keep Harry last summer to start the re-building, and we’re happy with our choice.

"There’s no need for any new talk with Harry. He knows how to share the sense of belonging to Spurs."

Kane has been with the club since he was 11-years-old and has scored 227 goals in 346 appearances since making his debut in August 2011.

He has won the Premier League golden boot on three occasions, including last season, but has so far yet to score or register an assist in the league from six appearances this term.

However, he has already scored five times in three appearances in the Europa Conference League and also found the net in a recent Carabao Cup tie against Wolves.

As rumours of a Kane departure persisted in the summer, Spurs were strongly linked with a move for Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement.

With Kane staying, this links have developed to suggest Vlahovic could join the club as a strike partner for Kane in the future.

However, Paratici has poured water on these rumours for the time being, as he stated that the Serbian forward is not currently a target for the club.

"Dusan Vlahovic is appreciated by many clubs, it’s normal – he’s not in our plans, for now," explained the former Juventus chief.

"I’m not going to speak about Dusan Vlahovic as he’s under contract with Fiorentina… and also because we've [got] Harry Kane who’s the best striker in the world."

21-year-old Vlahovic scored 21 goals in 37 Serie A appearances last season and was awarded the league's young player of the season award.

His current contract expires in 2023 but Fiorentina revealed this week that he has rejected their latest contract offer, with the likes of Liverpool and Atletico Madrid also interested.
