Tottenham chief Fabio Paratici is interested in signing Barcelona full-back Emerson Royal on a season-long loan, reports claim. Spurs remain open to the idea of adding another right-back to their squad despite Japhet Tanganga’s impressive start to the season.

Spurs are still yet to get the best from Matt Doherty while Serge Aurier has been pushed towards the exit door.

Lille are interested in the Ivorian but nothing has been finalised as of yet and Aurier could still stay beyond the deadline.

Tottenham will need him to depart if they are to bring in another full-back but Spurs are optimistic they can pull several signings out the bag.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are yet to concede a goal in the Premier League this season following back-to-back 1-0 wins against Manchester City and Wolves.

Yet extra additions in defence are still on the agenda for Spurs and according to The Telegraph, Tottenham are exploring the signing of Emerson on loan.

The Brazilian was linked with the club and Arsenal earlier in the transfer window but a move is yet to materialise.

Barcelona, given their financial troubles, are expected to be open to the idea of letting Emerson leave.

He’s not the only Barca player of interest to Tottenham either with 18-year-old Ilaix Moriba also a target.

Talks are believed to be at an advanced stage between the two clubs with Barcelona keen to sell Moriba after unsuccessful contract negotiations.

RB Leipzig are also in the hunt though but Spurs would be ready to blood Moriba straight into their first team.

Barcelona were keen to keep the youngster but Ronald Koeman has since banished him from the senior set-up after talks over a new deal broke down.

The Barca boss had a quiet word with Moriba and advised him to prioritise his football as opposed to potentially listening to outside influences.

He said: “I spoke with Ilaix two or three weeks ago, more as a person than as Barca coach.

“His situation is horrible because he is 18 years old, has been able to play for the first team and is the future of the club. And he is not playing, is not with us.

“I know the club wants to offer this player (a new contract). And my advice (to him) is that money is not the most important thing; that is to play games. But the player, and with his people, have decided differently.

“I am disappointed by this because I believe that in football there is more than contracts. For someone of 18, the most important thing should not be money.”
