Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici is reportedly leading the ‘succession planning’ in regard to Antonio Conte’s possible replacement with Luis Enrique at the top of his list. Conte is currently back home in Italy for his usual family trip at the start of an international break.
But his future as Spurs boss is coming under intense scrutiny following his outburst after his side’s 3-3 draw against Southampton. Conte let rip at the mindset of the club and blasted his players for not meeting his expectations.
Some believe the former Chelsea boss went too far with his explosive rant and Tottenham are now considering their options moving forward. Conte’s future appears now in jeopardy with Daniel Levy facing a big decision over the few days.
Tottenham will need a final decision in place before the players return from international duty to avoid any confusion when the season resumes at the start of April. Nothing has been decided on whether Conte will remain in charge until his contract expires in the summer or to cut ties right now.
The Evening Standard claim Levy is looking at all options on the table and how each one would affect the club in the short and long term. Harry Kane’s future is said to be a factor in what happens next while Ryan Mason is tipped as the favourite to take over on a temporary basis until the summer.
But Paratici has reportedly been put in charge of ‘succession planning’ in finding Conte’s potential successor. Former Spain boss Enrique is said to be at the top of Paratici’s list, but Levy hasn’t decided whether he will let the former Juventus chief have a ‘leading say in Conte’s successor’.
Paratici himself is in a sticky situation with the report pointing out his two-and-a-half-year ban from Italian football could extend to the whole of Europe. That creates another issue for Levy in deciding what to do next with Conte and whether or not a change of manager is needed at Tottenham.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg became the first Tottenham player to speak out on Conte’s explosive press conference, calling on his club manager to be more open with the players in describing what he wants. “Haha, yes, how did I experience it? I think we’ve all seen it. Very honest and very open press conference he gave,” Hojbjerg said.
“It is because he is not satisfied. You don’t do that if you’ve reached the quarter-final of the Champions League and if you’re in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
“It comes from the fact that, unfortunately, we did not get the results we as a team and club wanted. We are still where we want and need to be in the Premier League. But yes, it’s hard, I should say. I understand that if you want to be successful as a team, you need 11 men who are committed to a project and a culture. But I think he has to elaborate on how he feels before you as a player can start measuring and weighing.”
