Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has been urged to sack Antonio Conte without paying him a single penny of compensation after his stunning outburst following last weekend’s draw at Southampton. The Italian coach looks to be headed for the exit in north London after internal discussions were held regarding his future earlier this week, which reportedly resulted in a decision being made to relieve him of his duties.
Internal discussions over the terms of Conte’s exit are now believed to be underway, with the Italian coach set to receive a payoff in the region of £4million if he agrees to a mutual termination over the coming days. However, it has been claimed by outspoken pundit Simon Jordan that Conte should be denied a lucrative severance payment after bringing the club into ‘disrepute’ with his recent media interviews.
“In one outlandish, outrageous and staggeringly devoid of self-awareness post-match interview, we seemingly witnessed the attempted assassination of a football club by its own manager,” wrote Jordan in his column for the Daily Mail.
“What a despicable misrepresentation of his responsibilities that was by Antonio Conte. Now most sensible observers would assume that was an oral resignation letter, but in reality there are most likely 3.5 million reasons why he wouldn’t have the courage of his convictions to do that. He’s waiting for his pay-off.

“Don’t wait for lawyers. Sack him now. He’s brought the club into disrepute, a breach of contract. He showed zero sense of his own culpability. Excusing himself, his decisions, his selections, his behaviour, while nuking everyone else at Tottenham. Don’t give him a penny.”
Conte is firmly expected to leave Tottenham at some point before the Premier League returns after the international break, with Ryan Mason set to take charge of the club on an interim basis until the end of the season. The likes of Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino have already been linked with the role ahead of the summer months but Jordan believes that Levy should look elsewhere in order to make a fresh start under a new direction at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“What Conte in his current incarnation really represents, rather than the nailed-on winner I had him down for, is a spoilt, over-indulged football manager, beset with the sense of entitlement and the embodiment of a growing trend of managers getting paid eff-you money and ultimately being able to tell everyone and everything to eff-off,” continued Jordan.
“It’s time to go, leaving Tottenham and their chairman to deliver an inspired managerial appointment, much like his recruitment of Mauricio Pochettino in 2014, but this time with someone who could win something… and I don’t mean another raid on the Chelsea discarded cupboard in Thomas Tuchel. That won’t do. We’ve seen how that ends up.”
