Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has made Brendan Rodgers his top managerial target to replace Jose Mourinho, according to reports. The Portuguese has overseen a turbulent Premier League campaign so far. And despite masterminding a 4-1 Europa League win over Wolfsberger in midweek, he could still lose his job in north London.
Tottenham started the season in blistering form.
They had a good summer transfer window, splashing out to land the likes of Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min were also in sublime form but, in recent weeks and months, Spurs’ season has failed to live up to expectations.
It’s been reported that Levy is prepared to give Mourinho until the end of the campaign to turn things around, knowing it’ll take a compensation fee of £30million to part ways with the 58-year-old.
Yet Football Insider claim Tottenham’s top target to take over is Leicester boss Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman has steered the Foxes to third in the Premier League table, behind only Manchester City and Manchester United.
And it’s claimed Rodgers was initially wanted by Tottenham back in 2012 following the departure of Harry Redknapp.
In the end they swooped for Andre Villas-Boas and Levy, it seems, could be about to revive his interest in the coming months ahead.

Tottenham are unlikely to sack Mourinho while they can still win a trophy, with the club in contention for Europa League and Carabao Cup glory.
But the pressure is definitely on and Levy, it seems, is planning for life without the former United and Chelsea boss.
Meanwhile, former Leeds star John Giles thinks Mourinho ‘is in trouble’ at Tottenham – despite Thursday’s 4-1 win over Wolfsberger.
“They are certainly in trouble, Mourinho is in trouble,” he said.
“He is getting to a similar position as Manchester United in that he’s upsetting a lot of people – Gareth Bale and Dele Alli.
“A lot of it goes back to that documentary in the summer? I watched that documentary and things happened in that documentary that should never happen in a football club.
“First of all, whatever happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room.
“There has to be a sense of trust between the manager and the players. I was very lucky that I played in a Leeds United team for 12 years with a very good manager and a good set of lads.
“There were big rows. Especially with big Jack. Jack would be involved in nearly all of them! Don would have a go at me, he’d have a go at Norman Hunter – it never became public. That is the way that it is supposed to be.
“Next thing, you have a documentary with Daniel Levy getting involved in it; you have Mourinho getting on to Dele Alli at that particular time.
“At the moment, looking at it last week when the match with Manchester City was finished – when they had a right hiding.
“I don’t know if you noticed, but he started putting his arms around the players – they didn’t want to know.
“Then after the match, he’s saying ‘I can’t say anything about the players, they did this, that and the other..’ – in other words, ‘I’m trying to get back with the players’.
“They weren’t good. They weren’t having a go for him.”
Tottenham are next in action against West Ham on Sunday.
And they’ll be hoping to fare better than they did earlier in the campaign, with the two teams playing out a 3-3 draw.
Mourinho’s men were in pole position to claim victory, having raced into a 3-0 lead, but ended up throwing the game away.
