Tottenham chief Daniel Levy ‘makes contact’ with Real Madrid to satisfy Mourinho request

Tottenham have reportedly made contact with Real Madrid, wih the hope of signing Eder Militao on loan. Jose Mourinho’s side are still fighting on all four fronts this season, having qualified for the Carabao Cup final, where they will face Manchester City in April.
As well as that, Spurs are still in the FA Cup and Europa League, while they sit only four points behind Liverpool and Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.
Spurs were active in the summer transfer window, bringing the likes of Matt Doherty, Pierre Hojbjerg and Carlos Vinicius to the club.
Fans will be hoping for a similarly busy January, with hopes of ending their 13-year trophy drought under serial winner Mourinho.
Mourinho signed two players in this window 12 months ago, but has hinted that big business could be difficult this time around.

He said: “I’m not expecting, no. Times are not easy. The club made a big effort in the summer to try and build a good squad.
“Honestly, if something good happened to us, it would be a big surprise for me. I don’t feel the right to ask for something.
“One thing is to analyse, which of course I do, one thing is to analyse and commit to that analyse and to write a report and be committed to that report, which of course of which I did as I have to be professional.
“Another thing is to demand something which I never do. Another thing is to ask for and I’m not going to ask for anything because I respect the effort the club makes.”

However, although he has publicly suggested he won’t be asking for anything from Levy this month, reports suggest otherwise.
Corriere Dello Sport claim that Mourinho has made it clear that Spurs require another centre-back, if they are to achieve their goals this season.
Real Madrid defender Eder Militao is believed to be on his list, with the Brazilian a long-term target for the Spurs boss.
According to the report, Tottenham have made contact with the La Liga giants over a potential loan deal for the second half of the campaign.

Real paid €50m to sign the 22-year-old back in 2019, but has failed to make the impact that was expected.
Zidane opted to use the former Porto star just 15 times last season and has become completely surplus to requirements this term.
In total, Militao has played just three times and Real could look to cash in, in order to fund their own transfer business.
Tottenham’s first choice pairing at the back this season has been Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier, although Joe Rodon stepped in for the FA Cup win over Marine last week.
