Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has three reasons to sack Jose Mourinho
Tottenham: Mourinho gives team news for West Brom clash
Tottenham currently have three reasons to sack Jose Mourinho. Daniel Levy isn’t pulling the trigger just yet and, with Spurs in contention for three trophies, that doesn’t look set to change. However, Express Sport will now take a look at three reasons why Levy should contemplate axing the 58-year-old, regardless of all he’s achieved throughout his managerial career at Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto.
Dire football
Tottenham are a club who need attacking football.
That helped make Mauricio Pochettino so popular throughout his charge in time, with the Argentine’s gung-ho style seeing the club scale huge heights.
But, under Mourinho, things have been poor. Especially since Harry Kane’s injury.
Tottenham were impressive at the start of the season, winning matches in style with Kane and Son-Heung Min both striking up a remarkable partnership.
Yet ever since Kane’s injury, Spurs have regressed into a turgid and boring team to watch.

Against Chelsea on Thursday night they were flat, barring the final 10 minutes when Mourinho finally unleashed the shackles.
They had less of the ball compared to their opponents and also created less chances, seven compared to Chelsea’s 16.
Tottenham have some of the best players in the top flight.

And with all of their rivals far easier on the eye, Levy could be forgiven for wielding the axe.
Mourinho was hired because he’s a winner. But the negative football his teams over the years have utilised are starting to look outdated.
It was successful in previous years. It doesn’t look like it’ll be successful now.
Unrest behind the scenes
Mourinho’s combative approach is what makes him such a fascinating figure.
While the 58-year-old is undoubtedly charming, his methods can be questionable.
And Mourinho doesn’t seem happy with his current crop of Tottenham players – and Dele Alli and Gareth Bale in particular.
In Levy’s eyes, both players are huge assets. Levy was smug when Mourinho informed him last season that Manchester United liked Alli, that Sir Alex Ferguson himself was a huge admirer.
But the Tottenham boss has barely played the England international this season.
After the Chelsea defeat, he even aimed a dig at the playmaker by saying Spurs ‘hadn’t had a good Alli’ this season.
With Bale, a player Levy always dreamed of re-signing following his move to Real Madrid in 2013, it’s a similar story.
The Wales international has barely been deployed, even with Kane out injured.
With Levy investing so much, both emotionally and financially, into the pair it wouldn’t be impossible to see him taking action.
History
It would be wrong to look to the past to predict the future.
But history does suggest that Mourinho is starting to unravel at Tottenham, like he did at Chelsea and Manchester United previously.
At Chelsea, he was never able to overcome not getting the players he’d wanted.
And it was a similar issue at United, with Mourinho being sacked after taking numerous shots at Ed Woodward for his failure to sign Harry Maguire.
At Tottenham, he’s yet to kick up too much of a fuss.
But there are warning signs.
His comments about a ‘good Alli’ were typical of the 58-year-old.
And his decision not to answer a question on Bale suggests his patience is beginning to wear thin. ‘You don’t deserve an answer’ was how he responded.
Tottenham, for now, are backing Mourinho.
They’re unlikely to pull the trigger while there’s silverware to be won, with the club set to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final in April.
But the reasons to sack him are starting to mount up.
And only time will tell as to whether he’s able to turn the situation around.
