Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy appears to be facing an uphill battle to keep Harry Kane into next season and beyond. The England skipper has reportedly informed the club of his desire to seek a new challenge at the end of the current campaign, with Sunday’s final Premier League match against Leicester City potentially marking his last appearance in a Spurs shirt.
Kane has never attempted to hide his wish to fight for silverware on a regular basis, and with the forward turning 28 this summer, he is running out of time to leave a trophy-laden legacy.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all expressed an interest in signing the Spurs talisman ahead of next season, but he remains under contract until the summer of 2023 with Levy under no obligation to bow to his player’s demands.
The 59-year-old has reportedly slapped a price tag of £150million on Kane’s head and is believed to be vehemently opposed to the idea of selling to a London rival in Chelsea, which leaves City and United as the prime contenders for his signature.
Pep Guardiola’s side will be in the market for a striker this summer after the imminent departure of Sergio Aguero, who has agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, United’s interest is said to have cooled after Edinson Cavani penned a one-year contract extension earlier this month, but the Red Devils are still very much in the frame with regards to Kane’s services.

City are understood to be the early frontrunners, but it remains to be seen whether Levy will entertain any impending bids.
The Spurs chairman previously turned down the club’s advances back in January, with the newly-crowned Premier League champions expressing an interest in signing Kane months before his preference to find another club was publicised, according to the Daily Star.
The report claims that City have admired the striker from a distance for some time, with their unsuccessful approach likely to have significantly influenced his eventual decision to leave this summer.
Guardiola fuelled speculation that he could look to go back in for Kane earlier this week by outlining his desire to land a world-class striker with the potential to bag a half century of goals over the course of a single campaign.
“I’d love to have a striker who got 50 goals a season, honestly,” Guardiola told reporters. “At the same time, I don’t like to put all the pressure on one player.
“In Barcelona, Lionel Messi, every season since he was born, scored 50 a season. Thierry Henry scored a lot in the first season and Samuel Eto’o scored a lot – what a striker.”
Meanwhile, former City defender Micah Richards has suggested that Kane could end up moving to United, with Cavani primed and ready to serve as the perfect understudy.
“Of course he [Kane] would work at City, he works hard and he scores goals,” said Richards, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Would they pay £150million for him? No, they wouldn’t. They might pay £80m or £90m, but they are not going to get him for that.
“They would be looking for youth if they were going to spend £150m. They would go for [Erling] Haaland or [Kylian] Mbappe.
“The thing is I think Kane is a perfect suit for Man United. Him and Cavani up front for that one role, one play, one rest, you would have two top strikers.
“Kane would be the number one, with Cavani being managed correctly, because he is 34 and you can see the impact he can have starting or off the bench.”
