Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is keen on bringing Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro to north London during the summer transfer window, according to reports. The 22-year-old has not started a match for the Scottish heavyweights since February but has impressed on a number of occasions since joining from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda in January of last year.
Soro penned a long-term contract with the Parkhead club upon joining their ranks, keeping him on their books until the summer of 2024.
He appears to have been earmarked by those at Celtic as one for the future, evidenced by his lack of first-team action this season.
The Ivorian has played 21 times in all competitions since the beginning of the campaign with his involvement largely restricted to a bit-part role.
Soro was handed an extended run in the side by former boss Neil Lennon, turning heads with his dynamism and technical ability in the middle of the park, but has struggled to hold down a first-team spot under John Kennedy.
The likes of Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, David Turnbull and Ryan Christie have all been preferred by the interim manager in recent months, with Soro playing just 29 minutes of football in the club’s last four Scottish Premiership outings.

However, his failure to maintain a place in the starting side has not deterred Spurs, who are tracking his progress in Scotland with a keen interest according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims that club chiefs recognise Soro as a gifted holding player with the potential to provide good quality cover in the middle of the park.
Spurs have a number of defensive midfielders currently on their books, with regular starters Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Tanguy Ndombele backed up by Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier.
Academy graduate Oliver Skipp, who has just helped Norwich City to achieve Championship promotion while on loan at Carrow Road, could be another option next season.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs would plan to ship out Soro on a temporary basis after securing his signature, with the club allowing the likes of Skipp, Troy Parrott and Jack Roles to cut their teeth in the EFL this season.
The Celtic man has already earned comparisons with Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, who starred for the Blues in Tuesday evening’s Champions League semi-final draw with Real Madrid.
Former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie likened Soro to the World Cup winner back in January, tipping him to enjoy a successful career in Scotland.
“He reminds me of Kante when he was at Leicester, and also so much of Scott Brown when he came in the team and caused a lot of fouls and got booked a lot, before the maturity came through,” McAvennie told Football FanCast.
“I think Soro could be a little tenacious player in there. I think he could do a job.”
Spurs are yet to appoint a successor to former boss Jose Mourinho with Ryan Mason in temporary charge until the end of the campaign.
Levy’s top target was believed to be RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann, but the 33-year-old has already agreed to replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich next season.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag of Ajax have also been heavily linked with the vacancy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
