Tottenham can finally end eight-year transfer run after ‘green light’
Tottenham may finally be able to answer their attacking problems this summer with Barcelona giving the ‘green light’ for Ansu Fati to leave. Spurs have had a torrid record in the transfer market in recent years when trying to find fresh attacking options.
Both Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente failed to add much to Tottenham’s attack, while the jury is still out on Richarlison following a mediocre debut campaign in north London. Not since Tottenham signed Son Heung-min have the club been able to make any real difference to their front line.
Both Son and Harry Kane remain the biggest threat for Tottenham, but the former has suffered a worrying dip in form this campaign. Then there’s the question of Kane’s future at Tottenham with clubs all over Europe monitoring his situation heading into the summer.
All signs point to the club needing several new options in attack capable of changing their fortunes in front of goal. Several players have been touted as options for Tottenham, but Barcelona star Fati may be the club’s best bet.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are willing to offload the highly-rated 20-year-old this summer. It’s claimed that Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been given the ‘green light’ to begin talks about a potential summer move.
The report does add that Fati’s preference is to stay at the Nou Camp and fight for his place, but Barcelona are expected to offload several players after this season to help balance the books. There are also strong reports indicating the club could look to re-sign Lionel Messi, further limiting Fati’s chances at playing.

Tottenham are mentioned as one of the clubs who have expressed an interest in the Spain international. But they’re not alone with both Manchester United and Bayern Munich also in the race for his signature.
Much of what Tottenham do in the summer transfer window could depend on who comes in as their permanent manager. Kane’s future at the club will also have an impact on the kind of business they do as Tottenham will need to find a capable replacement.
But Fati is the kind of player who will get fans excited about a bright future at the club with his quick feet and eye for a goal. He won’t come cheap with Barcelona reportedly hoping for an offer in the region of £90million, but Tottenham will need to pay that kind of money to revamp their frontline.
