North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have been issued with a plea to sign Hans Vanaken by the player’s father. The Club Brugge midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few years.

Vanaken has been in impressive form this season and has struck goals in both of Club Brugge’s Champions League clashes.

The Belgium international hit a leveller against Paris Saint-Germain in a 1-1 draw two weeks ago before notching another as Club Brugge stormed to a surprising 2-1 victory at RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

Vanaken has now scored five goals and contributed two assists in his first 10 appearances of the season.

He won Belgium’s golden shoe in 2018 and 2019 and continues to excel in the Jupiler Pro League.

“One more top year with Club, maybe a third Golden Shoe, and then a top transfer,” said Vanaken’s father.

“Arsenal, Tottenham – let those teams come.

“Me giving him a push? No. I have two children and the most important thing is that they are happy. Then the rest comes.”

Vanaken has won 13 caps for Belgium since making his debut for his country in a 4-0 friendly victory over Scotland in July 2018.

He scored his first international goals earlier this year when he struck twice in an 8-0 World Cup qualifying win against Belarus in March.

The 29-year-old joined up with Roberto Martinez’s squad earlier this month and scored his third goal for Belgium as his country defeated Estonia 5-2.

Vanaken also turned provider for Romelu Lukaku’s second goal in that match, before laying on two more assists in Belgium’s 3-0 victory over Czech Republic three days later.

Arsenal and Tottenham have been struggling for goals this season and may try to lure the player to England at the right price.

The two clubs are level on points in the Premier League after the Gunners won this season’s first north London derby 3-1 on Sunday.

Arteta’s side produced a scintillating performance in the first half as they raced to a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka, before closing the match out after the break.

Arsenal fans were jubilant in their celebrations as they leapfrogged Spurs in the table.

But their reaction was slammed by former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara.

“Can we get something right, right now,” O’Hara told talkSPORT on Monday morning.

“You’ve got nine points – you’re going on like you’ve won the league.

“You’ve beaten a bang average Spurs team with a bang average manager and you’re going on like you’ve won the title. It’s embarrassing.

“You’ve had the biggest fall from grace of any football club in the Premier League.

“You used to compete with Man United for the title. Now you’re beating a rubbish Spurs team and giving it like you’ve won Europe. Get a grip of yourself, Arsenal fans – it’s ridiculous.”
