Tottenham agree £14.5m deal to sign highly-rated Metz midfielder Pape Sarr after beating Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton to teen’s signature… with Spurs to send him back on loan to Ligue 1 side

Tottenham have agreed a £14.5million deal plus add-ons with Metz for midfielder Pape Sarr.

The 18-year-old Senegal international will stay with the French side on loan for the season.

Sarr was courted by a number of sides this summer, including Aston Villa, Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea, with Metz president Bernard Serin confirming they had received a number of offers.

However, the player was keen to join Tottenham after holding initial talks.

He is due to undergo a medical and is expected to be at Tottenham’s home game with Watford on Saturday, meaning he will miss Metz’s game against Clermont.

Sarr made his senior international debut for Senegal earlier this year after a series of standout performances in the French league. He is understood to be signing a six-year deal.

Tottenham have also enquired about Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar as they assess more immediate options for their first team.

Sarr, 18, enjoyed a breakout season at Metz and was courted by several Premier League clubs

The 18-year-old Senegal international will stay with the French side on loan for the season 

Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier are looking to leave while Harry Winks could be made available on loan also. 

Tottenham also have a number of clubs showing interest in a loan for Oliver Skipp though he is currently part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.

Tottenham have expressed an interest in Granada’s Portuguese centre-back Domingos Duarte and remain keen to add another forward. Their initial proposal to sign Wolves’ Adama Traore has been rejected.
