Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele could be set for a move back to France, with a deal to take him to Paris Saint-Germain reportedly ‘close’ after a breakthrough in talks.

Ndombele has struggled for game time under Antonio Conte this season, scoring just once in a 3-2 win over Newcastle in October.

After a period in and out of the side, Ndombele was booed off after a poor performance against minnows Morecambe.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks and more ahead of him in the pecking order, Tottenham are reportedly desperate to get him off the books.

And with PSG interested, a report by the Telegraph states that a deal is almost done with two key factors just left to be ironed out.

The report states that a deal is now close, with PSG wanting to sign the 25-year-old on loan.

But Tottenham will ask for his wages to be covered in full, freeing up money for a potential replacement.

They also want a buy-option clause to become an ‘obligation’ to buy instead, guaranteeing money to spend in the rest of the window.

There is reportedly confidence that a deal can be done with talks at an advanced stage, although there is nothing complete just yet.

Manager Conte has made it clear that he does not need Ndombele as he aims to shape his squad.

Tottenham have been in talks with Les Parisiens for some time, with former coach Mauricio Pochettino a big fan of Ndombele having signed for the club under his guidance.

At £55million, he represents Tottenham’s record signing by some way, £17m ahead of centre-back Davinson Sánchez.

But the star could be offered some reprieve in the French capital.

He has struggled under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo and Conte, and a move back to France may reignite his career.

It remains to be seen who Tottenham could bring in as his replacement, however.

Jesse Lingard could be in line for a move, although United could be reluctant to let a rival sign one of their players.
