Many football clubs are able to boast celebrity fans, with Aston Villa famously supported by none other than the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.
It is not just the royal family that are football fans either, with a number of the country's top Conservative MPs being keen football supporters.
These include Southampton fan Rishi Sunak and Newcastle United supporter Matt Hancock, who are both keen followers of their sides, but the Prime Minister has no specific favourite club.
So with Manchester hosting the Conservative Party conference this week, here is a list of which football clubs some of the top Conservatives support.
Michael Gove – Queen's Park Rangers
The Minister for Intergovernmental Relations, Michael Gove, is a fan of Championship side Queen's Park Rangers, his local side.
Despite being born in Aberdeen, Gove supports the side closest to his west London home.
He has also previously been spotted out jogging wearing QPR merchandise and has also tweeted his support for the club after matches in the past.
Rishi Sunak – Southampton
Having been born in Southampton, it is perhaps no surprise that the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, is a fan of the club.
He joins musician Craig David and former glamour model Lucy Pinder as a famous supporter of the Premier League outfit.
Sunak has recently spoken of his love of football and Southampton, stating that club legend Matt Le Tissier was one of his childhood heroes.
Liz Truss – Norwich City
Liz Truss, who is the new Foreign Secretary and MP for South West Norfolk, supports the local side for her constituency, Norwich City.
Having been MP for the area since 2010, she has been a fan of the perennial yo-yo club in both the Championship and Premier League.
In the past she has tweeted her support for the club including in 2019 before their return to the top flight when she wrote: "Ignore the noise. Be brave. Exciting times."
Matt Hancock – Newcastle United
Keen runner and former Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock is a fan of Steve Bruce's Newcastle United.
This is despite Hancock having been born in Chester, but he puts his love for the club down to his Geordie uncle who would take him to matches as a kid.
"That was in the era of Kevin Keegan, Alan Shearer, and the heady days when we got almost to the top of the table. It has its ups and downs being a Newcastle fan but it all stems from uncle Dave," he explained in 2019.
Boris Johnson – 'All the London clubs'
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has yet to come out and clarify whether or not he supports a specific club.
Instead, he revealed that he is a fan of "all the London teams" during his time as mayor the United Kingdom's capital city.
Reportedly, though, his children are fans of Newcastle United, just like Hancock.
Theresa May – AFC Wimbledon
Johnson's predecessor, Theresa May, is widely understood to be a fan of League One club AFC Wimbledon, although she has never confirmed this rumour herself.
The idea she supports the club comes from her time as a councillor in nearby Durnsford during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Jeremy Hunt – Chelsea
Former Foreign and Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt stated back in 2011 to the Evening Standard that he is a fan of Champions League winners Chelsea.
He was able to see the irony in that he, a Conservative MP, supported the west London club.
"Chelsea – which is a little bit of a cliché for a Conservative culture secretary," was his response to being asked who he supports.
