Tom Lockyer missed Luton’s promotion parade as he remains in hospital after collapsing during the Championship play-off final.
The Hatters’ inspirational captain dropped to the floor with no one around him during the early stages at Wembley and was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, the Welshman got the help he needed and was pictured celebrating Luton’s shootout win over Coventry from his hospital bed on Saturday evening.
He remains in hospital as a precaution and unfortunately missed the club’s open-top bus parade around the town on Bank Holiday Monday. However, Lockyear remains in high spirits and, according to Luton CEO Gary Sweet, has been ordering slap-up meals to his bed in honour of the Hatters’ success.

“I spoke to him after the game, he was in really good spirits,” Sweet told talkSPORT. “He was just so upset for not being a part of the game and not being part of the celebrations afterwards.
“He was ordering steaks, so he was fine. He’s being kept in for further tests. He can’t attend our civic parade, unfortunately. I think that’s precautionary and fingers crossed for Tom.”

Sweet admitted Lockyer’s collapse took some gloss off Luton’s return to the English top flight for the first time in 31 years.
“The whole occasion after the game felt a bit bitter-sweet because he wasn’t there,” added Sweet. “He’s been an immense captain for us this season. A great player and without him I’m sure we wouldn’t have been where we are.
“Tom, if you’re listening, get back soon because the boys are going to Vegas on Thursday, so get ready!”
Host Laura Wood then quipped: “I’m not sure the doctor would advise that!”
