Tom Brady has praised the ownership of the Glazer family in his retirement post, leaving Manchester United fans baffled in the process.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion announced on Tuesday he was ending his career after 22 years in the NFL with a lengthy farewell message on social media.

Amongst those thanked by Brady were the Glazer family, who have owned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since 1995 and also the controversial owners of the Red Devils.

Brady's wording and gratefulness towards their ownership of the Bucs has left United fans perplexed due to their dissatisfaction with the club's ownership during the Glazer era.

In his retirement post, Brady said: "To the Glazer family, thank you for taking a chance on me and supporting me.

"I know I was demanding at times, but you provided everything we needed to win, and your ownership was everything a player could ask for."

He also paid tribute to the Bucs fans and staff, the city of Tampa, his agents, his family and his wife, Gisele Bundchen.

It was what he had to say about the Glazers' ownership of the Buccaneers that has riled up a number of United fans, who quickly took to social media to react to Brady's comments.

One fan wrote: “In Tom Brady’s goodbye post. Full of praise for the Glazer Family as owners.

"Just shows where their loyalties lie and where they put all of their effort, time and money. Manchester United means nothing to them.”

Another added: “Imagine if we could say this, unfortunately we never will.”

A third fan tweeted: “He says: 'Your ownership was everything a player could ask for.' A shame they haven’t been like that for us Man Utd fans.”

Meanwhile, another supporter also wrote: “Tom Brady calling the Glazers the best owners a player could ask for in his retirement post makes me feel ill.”

Since first purchasing a stake in the club in 2005, the Glazers have faced opposition from a large proportion of United's fan base.

This has led to numerous fan protests and campaigns, which only further intensified followed their involvement in the doomed European Super League proposals last April.
