Speaking ahead of Canelo’s fight this weekend, Brady told the Let’s Go podcast: ‘You have been an impressive competitor, a true champion, humble, hardworking, who does great things for his community, and who represents Mexico very well.

‘Every time you step into the ring you do it with professionalism. I think people who are professional in what they do, love to see you fight, because you are trying to do your best, and true competitors do their best, and you never disappoint in that. I love to see you fight.’

Canelo was extremely grateful for Brady’s comments and replied: ‘Thank you for your words, I appreciate them very much.

”I always try to do my best and it works for me, because when you’re disciplined and you know the key to keep winning, and being loyal to your team, and always being disciplined with your family, in the gym and everything, I think you’re going to get good results.’

The Mexican super-star finished by saying: ‘I really appreciate you watching me fight, because you’re a great athlete too and for me it’s an honor.’

Brady opened up on the first time he and Canelo met – claiming he was ‘amazed at Canelo’s discipline’ when it came to what he ate and drank.

The NFL legend said: ‘We played golf together in California, and I was amazed at your discipline, what you ate, what you drank, and even training boxing before and after playing golf in the tournament,’ the former NFL quarterback noted.

‘And I remember asking you how much weight you had to cut to get to the weight and you told me you still had to cut 15 pounds.

‘But when I touched your back, I felt like I was touching granite, there was no fat on you, and I was asking you where does the weight you have to cut come from!’.
