Timo Werner given ’70 per cent chance’ of Bayern transfer as Chelsea exit looms

Timo Werner has been given a "70 per cent" chance of moving to Bayern Munich from Chelsea in the transfer window.

The striker has had a difficult time since moving to Stamford Bridge after failing to adjust to the Premier League.

Originally brought in for his firepower up front, the Germany international scored just six times in the league.

That is a far cry from the 34 goals he scored in all competitions this year before for RB Leipzig that tempted Chelsea into forking out £47.5m.

The signing of Romelu Lukaku further proves that Thomas Tuchel was desperate for a striker who could find the net after Werner was guilty of missing a number of glorious chances.

However, he did end the season with 15 assists and helped the Blues win the Champions League.

And according to Sport 1, Werner could be heading back to the Bundesliga soon – to reunite with manager Julian Nagelsmann.

It was the German who turned the forward into a goal machine at RB Leipzig and the report states that the two remain in close contact.

Werner has been given a '70 per cent' chance of making the move to Bayern to spearhead a new-look attack at the Allianz Arena.

Robert Lewandowski remains the top dog at the club and remains one of the best strikers in the world.

But Nagelsmann wants to partner him with the speedy Werner to caus havoc in Germany and in the Champions League.

Despite missing a sitter on Wednesday night, the 25-year-old has seen a return to form with the national side.

The Chelsea forward netted two in two and grabbed a delightful assist as well against Iceland and there is hope he can replicate this back with the Blues.

Tuchel has even urged the ex-Stuttgart star to up his antics in front of goal, saying: "Nothing has changed so far.

"He had a so-so Euros with Germany, but that was a concern of the whole team not his personal problem.

"Now it’s on him. Like always it’s on him to show his quality and his ability.

"I’m happy that he was dangerous but there were some chances where he could be more decisive, could have scored could have assisted another one or two."
