Tim Sherwood launches brutal attack on Tottenham
‘They’re becoming a laughing stock’: Tim Sherwood launches brutal attack on Tottenham while club search for Antonio Conte’s replacement… as former Spurs boss slams poor recruitment and appointment of Fabio Paratici
- Paratici has been banned from all worldwide football activities by FIFA
- Conte left the club after a bizarre outburst targeting the hierarchy and players
- Sherwood compared Spurs’ recent performances to those of rivals Arsenal
Tim Sherwood has insisted that Tottenham have become ‘a laughing stock’ after a turbulent week for the north London side.
Spurs parted ways with former manager Antonio Conte last week after the Italian spoke out against the club’s hierarchy and current squad, before their director of football, Fabio Paratici, was banned from football worldwide after a ruling from FIFA.
Sherwood himself managed Spurs between 2013 and 2014 and is one of several managers that have tried to deliver the club their first trophy since 2008.
The club are in transition again, and face dropping out of the Champions League places, with a top four spot in the Premier League all they have left to play for this season.
Sherwood, speaking on TalkSport, bashed his former club, bemoaning them for being so far behind rivals Arsenal.

‘It doesn’t look good, obviously the fans are feeling it more than anyone,’ he began. ‘Your club is becoming a laughing stock.
‘They are, and they shouldn’t be, because they finished fourth last year in a very competitive league and they’re still fourth this year.
‘There are a few teams just behind them with a few games in hand, we know all about that, but they’re in a decent position.
‘It’s because they haven’t won a trophy again and the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, all the local teams, shove it down the Tottenham fans’ throats. They need to start winning something or start producing some players.’
Conte was vocal about his team’s squad, saying he saw players that ‘didn’t want to play for each other’ and that they ‘showed they are not a team’.
Spurs face the possibility of losing all-time leading goal scorer Harry Kane in the summer, and Sherwood insisted his former side need to improve in their recruitment.

He also bashed the club for hiring Fabio Paratici, who has been banned from all football activity for two-and-a-half years by FIFA.
‘Their recruitment has been very, very poor,’ he said. ‘They can’t seem to recruit a manager who can last, not only players, and it looks like they cant even pick a sporting (managing) director.
‘They should have done their due diligence on this guy. It’s historic, what we’re talking about here, the misdemeanors Paratici has had, so they should have known about this.’
Spurs face Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Monday night, with Conte’s former assistant, Cristian Stellini, to take charge of the side.
