Tim Sherwood: Kane and Son 'could depart Spurs if Conte leaves'
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min ‘could follow Antonio Conte OUT the door’ if he decides to leave Tottenham, claims Tim Sherwood, as ex-Spurs boss insists this season was ‘make or break’ for the manager and his star strikers
- Tim Sherwood believes this season will be ‘make or break’ for Antonio Conte
- The Italian’s contract is up at the end of the campaign and he could leave Spurs
- Sherwood warned that Harry Kane and Son Heung-min could also depart Spurs
- Kane’s contract expires in 2024 while Son will also be available the year after
Tim Sherwood has warned Tottenham that Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min could seek a move away from the club if Antonio Conte decides to leave at the end of this season.
Conte, who joined Spurs in 2021, is expected to make a decision on his future at the end of this season, with his contract set to expire in June 2023.
But despite recent improvements under the 59-year-old, who has guided Spurs to third in the Premier League table with seven wins in 12 matches, there is no indication that the Italian manger could extend his contract with the club as yet.

For Sherwood, a former Tottenham manager himself, it is likely that the Italian could make a return to his home country if he doesn’t secure silverware this season.
But his departure could have a negative effect on the squad, with Sherwood insisting that it may also see two key players, Kane and Son, want out.
‘Let’s face it, he [Conte] only has until the end of the season.’ Sherwood told Sky Sports.
‘I mean he’s not signed a new contract. You are asking Harry Kane and Son to extend their contracts, why would you extend your contract? If you believe in this manager and if your manager is going to be there until the end of the season.’

Speculation has once again started to arise on the availability of Kane, who almost made a move to Manchester City last summer.
The 29-year-old, whose contract will expire in 2024, is being rumoured as a target for Bayern Munich, and as Sherwood suggests, could follow Conte out the door.
Son, who has struggled to find the back of the net this season, could also seek a move elsewhere, according to the former Spurs midfielder, with the South Korean’s contract set to expire in 2025.

While it’s been a bright start to the season for Conte, going unbeaten in his first 10 matches, successive losses to Manchester United and Newcastle have laid bare that there is still some way to go before this Spurs team are the finished article.
Sherwood, who scored 16 goals in 117 appearances for Tottenham before taking charge at the club for 26 matches, spoke candidly of the side’s current manager, suggesting that this season is ‘make or break’ for Conte.
‘You have to make a decision on him, very soon. There is speculation of him going back to Italy,’ he said.
‘He is lauded in Italy for the style of how he wants to play. This year he has to win, if he doesn’t win this year, then he will leave.’
Concerns are starting to rise over whether the 53-year-old’s management style is right for Tottenham, despite Conte having dragged Spurs up the league table from seventh to fourth in his first two seasons at the helm.
His side will now play six games before the World Cup, including crunch Champions League and Premier league matches against Olympique Marseille and Liverpool.
