Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side wrapped up second place in the Premier League with a solid win over Fulham at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.
10,000 supporters watched on as Edinson Cavani scored a memorable strike to break the deadlock after just 15 minutes. gracefully chipping the ball over Alphonse Areola from around 40 yards out.
The Red Devils enjoyed the better of proceedings as the game wore on, though Fulham showed signs of a fight back.
And United were made to pay for their inability to find a winner as Joe Bryan provided an equaliser with just 15 minutes left to play, showing there is work to be done before the Europa League final later this month.
Here’s three things Solskjaer got bang on as United picked up a convincing win over Fulham to secure second place.
De Gea over Henderson
With no Harry Maguire in the team, United looked very shaky against Liverpool in their last game.
But bringing back the experienced head of David de Gea over Dean Henderson restored some much-needed calm to the Red Devils defence.
This debate is sure to rage on into the summer; will it be De Gea or Henderson to go? The Spaniard certainly staked his claim to stay with a tidy showing against Fulham.
Tuanzebe looks solid
Axel Tuanzebe put in a solid performance at centre-back to keep Fulham at bay for most of the game, though will have been disappointed not to keep a clean sheet.
Replacing Eric Bailly, who endured something of a horror show in the defeat to Liverpool, Tuanzebe will be hoping that he has done enough to start the Europa League final, provided Maguire is still injured.
In the first half at least, the 23-year-old barely put a foot wrong, playing some fine long-range passes, but there is clearly still work to be done on his positioning.
Failed dress rehearsal
Man Utd fans fed up of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's line up obsession against lesser teams
Despite being in control for most of the game, Solskjaer will see this test for the Euruoa League final as something of a failed dress rehearsal.
Many believe this will be the United side that faces Villarreal on May 26 in Gdansk, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba surely nailed on to start.
However, there was a certain killer edge missing to the side that will concern Solskjaer, with Cavani looking a little isolated at times, and Mason Greenwood rather wasteful in the final third.
Perhaps it was just an off night with no real motivation to win, but Solskjaer will need to see a bit more oomph from his side when they take to the field later this month.
Giving Cavani new contract

What a way to announce yourself to United fans as the Old Trafford faithful finally got the chance to see Cavani in the flesh.
And the Uruguayan delivered a goal of the season contender with a perfect chip from over 40 yards out to get supporters out of their seats for the first time in 14 months.
Of course, just two days ago Cavani finally agreed to stay for another season, and that could be as good as any signing Solskjaer makes this season based on his recent form.
